Logistics Manager - Fashion Retail Company

Purpose:
Manage all aspects of the warehousing and distribution function for the Company's business, ensuring that the highest standards of operation are achieved, that service levels are met or exceeded and that all activities are carried out within the financial budgets agreed with the board of Managers.

Responsibilities:
• In conjunction with the Retail Operations Manager produce financial budgets and targets for the warehousing and distribution department
• Manage and coordinate the unloading of inbound shipments, orderly stacking of product, and the picking and staging of outbound shipments to the stores
• Verify required inbound/outbound paperwork with drivers, ensuring that all products are properly counted
• Manage the accurate computerized capture of stock movements within the warehouse. This encompasses all deliveries, shipments to the stores and processing damaged stock
• Manage the warehouse transportation fleet and ensure that all vehicles are maintained to the highest standards
• Ensure the efficient and safe operation of all materials handling equipment
• Participate with supervisors in establishing work schedules and ensure that the schedules are correctly implemented and that jobs are assigned effectively and completed properly
• Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area and assists in maintaining the security and safety of the warehouse
• Ensure total adherence to all local statutes regarding warehouse operation
• Manage the movement of products to storage areas with proper equipment and the efficient stacking and storage of merchandise in the appropriate area
• Manage the preparation of stock prior to delivery of stock to stores, including ironing and checking the presence of Company labels
• Ensure that samples for all new deliveries are passed to Quality Control for checking. This merchandise should not be placed in storage until approved by Quality Control
• Manage the coordination and/or checks in product returns and updates inventory balances on hand
• Inspect physical condition of warehouse and equipment and prepares work orders for repair and requisitions for replacement of equipment
• Confer with Company department management to ensure coordination of warehouse activities with such activities as production, sales and purchasing.
• Participates in planning personnel safety and warehouse protection activities
• Manages drivers to ensure delivery of products in a manner consistent with company service and cost objectives
• Coordinates all preparation and distribution of documentation pertaining to worker accidents
• Supervises staff including: hiring, determining workload and delegating assignments, training, monitoring and evaluating performance, and initiating corrective or disciplinary actions.
• Develops or modifies warehouses rules, policies, or standards, etc. and seeks agreement from the Business Development Manager
• Manages the maintenance of accurate records and logs for all stock movements
• Develop and execute annual/quarterly service targets and objectives
• Ensure that all stock security measures are being followed by all staff
• Manage all warehouse physical inventories and ensure that checks are performed regularly. Arranges the investigation of large stock losses and report findings to Business Development Manager
• Motivate the warehouse team to achieve established performance targets.
• Implement continuous improvement projects.
• Conduct presentations and formal training as required
• Meet strict deadlines
