A personal assistant is required for a special needs student who has a hearing impairment. Applicants must be English native and fluent in the English language. It is important that they must have previous experience in working with special need students in particular hearing impairment. This should include familiarity with some sign language and gestures as a communication approach.
The job entails the personal assistant to be with the student in all lessons during the school day and will need to follow the teacher’s lesson planning in order to assist the student with the class work. The personal assistant must work closely with the speech and language therapist within the Green Unit to help the student apply new vocabulary during school. Finally the student’s hearing aid will need to be checked daily to ensure that it is operating correctly.
