1) Support Microsoft Environment during a particularly busy period. The successful candidate must have previous working experience configuring and supporting Windows Server 2003 / 2008. Also strong skills with Active Directory, Exchange, MS Office and networking.
2) Analyze network data to determine network usage, disk space availability, or server function.
3) Configure security settings or access permissions for groups or individuals.
4) Configure wide area network (WAN) or local area network (LAN) routers or related equipment.
5) Document network support activities.
6) Configure and define parameters for installation or testing of local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), hubs, routers, switches, controllers, multiplexers, or related networking equipment.
7) Evaluate local area network (LAN) or wide area network (WAN) performance data to ensure sufficient availability or speed, to identify network problems, or for disaster recovery purposes.
8) Resolves problems by determining cause; providing software/hardware technical support on client operating systems and/or Windows servers.
9) Supports end-user issues by providing technical assistance to Information Systems support staff.
10) Implements and upgrades system by overseeing all operating system upgrades; maintaining software fixes; installing new server hardware and software applications.
11) Maintains operational effectiveness and efficiency by managing campus Exchange e-mail system; managing Windows domain/active directory system; following organization standards and anticipating and minimizing down time.
12) Safeguards information systems assets by assessing current situation, establishing and reviewing file backup/restore system; preparing for disaster recovery.
13) Develops client desktop configurations by managing client operating system images.
14) Maintains records by documenting procedures used; filing and retrieving documentation.
