Finance Manager

As a key member of the Executive Management team, the Finance Manager reports to the MD and assumes a strategic role in the overall management of the company.

Responsible for all aspects of financial control and reporting, the Finance Manager is the link between the accounting department and upper management.

The Finance Manager has primary responsibility for planning, implementing, managing and controlling all financial-related activities including the development of financial and operational strategies.

The Finance Manager oversees financial reports in compliance with industry legislation and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Regulatory Guidelines.

The Finance Manager is also accountable for financial administration and risk management; his role includes direct responsibility for accounting, finance, forecasting, strategic planning, supervising the activities of an accounting department, evaluating operating expenses, deal analysis and negotiations and banking and investor relations.

Through analysis of accounting data, the Financial Manager will find ways to improve underperforming areas within the company, by creating efficiencies and reducing costs to maximise working capital for business growth.

C. Job Responsibilities

• Provide leadership to the Board's Finance and Accounting strategy, to optimise the company’s financial performance and strategic position.

• Contribute fully to the development of company strategy across all areas of the business (including financial and tax strategies), challenging assumptions and decision-making as appropriate and providing financial analysis and guidance on all activities, plans, targets and business drivers.

• Work with senior teams to grow the business, formulating strategic recommendations and plans to enhance financial performance and new business opportunities.

• Ensure that financial systems are robust, compliant and support current activities and future growth.

• Form a close working relationship with the MD, other Senior Executives and Non Executives.

• Take overall control of the company’s accounting function.

• Lead and develop the finance team.

• Ensure corporate budgeting processes are carried out and reviewed.

• Take ultimate responsibility for the company cash management policies.

•Present annual accounts to investors.

• Ensure that the regulatory requirements of all statutory bodies are met.

•Corporate finance: manage company policies regarding capital requirements, debt, taxation, equity, disposals and acquisitions, as appropriate.

• Provide recommendations regarding investments and cash strategies, effective utilization of long and short term debt, including refinancing and purchasing/sales.

• Monitor and direct strategic business plans.

• Oversee all transactions and processing systems.

• Implement operational best practices.

• Supervise acquisition due diligence and negotiate acquisitions.

• Ensure effective internal controls are in place and compliance with GAAP and applicable regulatory legislation for financial and tax reporting.

• Prepare and interpret monthly management accounts and annual reports.

• Implement financial plans.

• Assess and manage risks.

• Reconcile balance sheets.

• Analyse margins.

• Manage budgets.

• Handle debtors.

• Monitor cash flows statements and predict future trends.

• Conduct reviews and evaluations for cost-reduction.

• Develop external relationships, for example; solicitors, bankers, investors.

• Liaise with auditors to ensure annual monitoring is carried out.

• Arrange new sources of finance and debt facilities.

• Ensure that all transactional, payroll and taxation requirements are met.

• Keep on top of changes in regulation and legislation and new industry developments.
